IBOM AIR BANS PASSENGER AFTER VIOLENT MID-AIR AND GROUND ASSAULT

Ibom Air has permanently banned passenger Ms. Comfort Emmanson after a violent incident on its Uyo-Lagos flight on August 10, 2025. The trouble began when Ms. Emmanson refused to switch off her mobile phone despite repeated instructions from the crew. She only complied after a fellow passenger intervened and the Pilot-in-Command made an announcement.

Upon arrival in Lagos, Ms. Emmanson confronted the Purser who had initially instructed her to turn off her phone.

In a shocking display of aggression, she Assaulted the Purser, Stepped on her, tore off her wig, removed her glasses, and threw them to the floor. Ms. Emmanson also used her footwear to assault the Purser and slapped her several times. Attacked Another Crew Member, When trying to intervene, Ms. Emmanson slapped her as well.

Attempted to Remove Fire Extinguisher, which could have caused serious damage to the aircraft, Ms. Emmanson attacked Ibom Air security personnel and FAAN security, lashing out violently and even slapping the ground supervisor.

The airline commended its crew for their bravery and professionalism in handling the situation. Ibom Air has reported the incident to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and imposed a permanent travel ban on Ms. Emmanson. The airline emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward unruly or violent conduct that endangers passengers, crew, or equipment.

In a statement, Ibom Air urged passengers to comply with crew instructions at all times for the safety, security, and comfort of everyone on board. Ms. Emmanson was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
