FCT POLICE COMMAND CLARIFIES STOP-AND-SEARCH INCIDENT AT NNPC JUNCTION, KUBWA EXPRESSWAY.

The attention of FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications by an Instagram blogger, “Mazitundeednut,” alleging an attack on one Lt. Ahmed Yerima at NNPC junction in Kubwa area of the FCT. FCT Police Command wishes to state that these publications are false and grossly misleading.

On 16th November 2025 at about 06:15 p.m., a Police patrol team, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at NNPC Junction along Kubwa Expressway, intercepted an ash-coloured Toyota Camry driven with a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows.

In line with standard operational procedure, officers approached the vehicle and politely requested for the occupant’s identity, along with an explanation for the concealments. The occupant, however, refused to identify himself, proceeded to make several calls, and wound up his tinted windows, declining to engage with the police team.

A few minutes later, three naval personnel arrived the location and cordially identified the occupant of the vehicle as their colleague. They were also observed taking video and picture footage of the encounter before leaving. Following this confirmation, the Police team allowed the vehicle to proceed. The patrol team then continued its operations peacefully and without any further incident. It is however surprising to wake up to maliciously crafted tales and worst of all allegations of assassination .

The Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye Psc. while calling on FCT residents and visitors to always cooperate with police officers in the discharge of their lawful duty, stresses the need to shun peddling of fake and unverified news capable of creating fear and apprehension in the society.

I am want to address a report currently circulating on social media, on the matter that “Abia Assembly Majority Leader Smashes Beer Bottle on Colleague’s Head During Fight Over Governor Otti’s Cash Gift.”

The report falsely claims that “I, Hon. Ucheonye, the representative of Aba Central State Constituency, was assaulted by my colleague, Hon. Okoro Uchenna Kalu, the Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly.

The assertion that my brother and colleague struck me with a beer bottle is not only absurd but entirely unfounded.
I must categorically state that the allegations presented in this publication are false, malicious, and concocted by those determined to damage the reputation of the Abia State House of Assembly and disrupt the cohesion among its members.

No such incident occurred, there has been no form of altercation verbal or physical between myself, and the Majority Leader, or any of my colleagues.

Since the inauguration of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, we have operated in an environment of peace, mutual respect, and unity of purpose. Our collective focus is on delivering quality legislation, supporting Governor Alex Otti’s people oriented policies, and driving progress for Abia State.

It is both disappointing and unsurprising that certain anonymous individuals and political adversaries have resorted to creating false narratives to undermine the harmony we have established and distract us from our legislative responsibilities. Such cheap propaganda will ultimately fail.

I want to emphasize that I have no personal or professional disagreements with Hon. Uchenna Kalu or any member of the House. We continue to collaborate as brothers, and fully committed to the advancement of our state.

Those responsible for this baseless story are hereby warned to cease spreading falsehoods or be prepared to face the full consequences of the law.

I urge the public to disregard the aforementioned report entirely, as it is devoid of any truth. The 8th Abia State House of Assembly remains united, focused, and determined to honor the trust bestowed upon us by the citizens of Abia State.”

The Chairman, Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission, Maduako Uchechukwu has charged the Examination Board saddled with the responsibility to tinker the 2024/2025 Promotion/Conversion/Confirmation Examinations for the Legislative Service Commission to ensure integrity and high ethical standards in their functions.

During a meeting with the Resource Persons in his office, Maduako hinted that expectations are high, the conduct of the examination being the first to be embarked upon by the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission and expressed confidence in the caliber of persons assembled for the exercise, adding that the conduct of the examination has put paid the Administrative Autonomy of the Abia State House of Assembly.

The Chairman of the Examination Board, Elder O.I. Izima, a retired Permanent Secretary in Abia State in his response, hinted that integrity shall be the main crux in their given assignment, assuring of their readiness to ensure fairness to all.

Among the Resource Persons include Rev Ernest Onyeukwu, Rev Emeka Otumchere, Mr Michael Ibe and Barrister Emeka Chionye.
