An allegedly incident occurred on July 21, 2025, in Ogombo, Ajah area of Lagos, where a man killed his girlfriend, Goodnews, over a N500,000 loan she obtained from Opay for her POS business.
According to reports, the boyfriend, a barber from Akwa Ibom State, requested the money, but Goodnews refused. He then conspired with friends to steal the money, killed her, and shared the funds among themselves.
On the 25th, the suspect reported to the Police Station that the deceased, with whom he was living, had been missing. And shortly afterwards, a body was found floating in the river near the abandoned compound where they threw her.
The security agencies and area boys quickly moved to arrest the suspect. When the friends got an information of the arrest, they started running with one shouting that,
“he was not among. That he only put the money in his account to change it.”
That tipped off the security agencies who arrested all of them.
The Police further raided the area, but most of the boys had already run away.
