Suspended Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has vowed that his
victory will come despite his ongoing political challenges, asserting that no king lasts forever.
Speaking at a gathering in Bonny, Fubara remained defiant, emphasizing that he stands firm in his principles and trusts in divine support.
Everybody will not appreciate your style, but when you know what you’re doing is right, you can defend your actions in 25 to 30 years, Fubara said. No king lives forever, and no authority lasts forever. What matters is doing wonderful things that speak forever during your time in power.
Fubara, suspended in March 2025 after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, addressed accusations against him, stating,
I can’t be what I’m not. He urged his supporters to remain resilient, saying, At times, you need to lose to win. I have never considered myself losing anything because we are standing on a solid rock.
The state of emergency and Fubara’s six-month suspension followed a political clash with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. President Tinubu appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator to govern Rivers State during this period. Fubara has since met twice with Tinubu and Wike in attempts at reconciliation, though no resolution has been announced.
Fubara’s remarks signal his determination to navigate the crisis, as the political situation in Rivers State continues to draw national attention.
